{"id":40530,"date":"2024-05-31T11:39:16","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T09:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jacobsfoundation.org\/?p=40530"},"modified":"2024-05-31T11:39:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T09:39:19","slug":"ghanian-education-minister-commits-to-scaling-up-education-partnerships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jacobsfoundation.org\/ghanian-education-minister-commits-to-scaling-up-education-partnerships\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghanian Education Minister commits to scaling up Education Partnerships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Last week, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/globalschoolsforum.org\/\"><strong>Global Schools Forum<\/strong><\/a><strong> &#8211; alongside the Jacobs Foundation, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idpfoundation.org\/\"><strong>IDP Foundation<\/strong><\/a><strong>, and <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vitol-foundation.com\/\"><strong>Vitol Foundation<\/strong><\/a><strong> &#8211; hosted a high-level event on the sidelines of the Education World Forum in London.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the theme of \u201cInnovative Partnerships at Scale to Achieve SDG 4 in Africa\u201d, education ministers from three African states; Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, were brought together, alongside the UK Government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/alicia-herbert\">Alicia Herbert OBE<\/a>, Director of Education, Gender and Equalities for the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministers in attendance &#8211; Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister for Education of the Republic of Ghana; Hon. Conrad Sackey, Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education of Sierra Leone; and Hon. There was a greater emphasis and understanding on how to meet this demand more intentionally and effectively. Crucially, the demand exists, but the challenge is to meet it where it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"quote_testimonial_section with_shape\">\r\n    \r\n                <div Ghana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This gathering of African education ministers, policy officials, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and civil society representatives acted as an opportunity to position partnerships as a vehicle for accelerating impact in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jacobsfoundation.org\/activity\/quality-education-in-ghana\/\">We work alongside the Ministry of Education in Ghana<\/a> to facilitate the incorporation of evidence in national policies and their implementation in several countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Co-Funding Mechanism: supported by the Jacobs Foundation and the Ministry of Education in Ghana, this weaves together multiple funders, implementing partners, and beneficiary communities to improve holistic learning outcomes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/jacobsfoundation.org\/publication\/policy-labs-and-evidence-use-in-education\/\">EdLab<\/a>: an evidence lab for education embedded in the Ministry of Education Ghana is being developed and is steered by relevant organizations from academia, policy and practice that generates and applies rigorous evidence into policy and practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was led by the Global Schools Forum, a member of our School Action Learning Exchange Network (<a href=\"https:\/\/jacobsfoundation.org\/activity\/salex\/\">SALEX<\/a>), who undertake a variety of collaborative activities to facilitate the generation and uptake of evidence, both within the community and for the broader education ecosystem.
