Yesterday, Global Education leaders convened at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to assess transformative education actions and accelerate progress on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4)\u2013 ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-Chairs of the SDG4 High-Level Steering Committee H.E. Mr. Gabriel Boric, President of Chile (pictured), and Ms. Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General, opened the convening. Also in attendance were Ministers of Education, notably H.E. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum for Ghana, Ministers of Finance and International Cooperation, and SDG4 High-Level Steering Committee (HLSC) members. Our Co-CEO Simon Sommer<\/a>, who shares the seat for Foundations and Private Sector Representative on the HLSC with Ms. Dina Ghobashy<\/a>, Director of Global Education Transformation at Microsoft, were also in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees assessed country progress towards SDG 4, exchanging new insights on building the education systems of the future and showcasing transformative actions undertaken by Member States in education since the United Nations Transforming Education Summit in September 2022. Ms. Stefania Giannini, the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, discussed how to translate country commitments into actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n <\/span>The new Chair of the SDG 4 High-Level Steering Committee, Chile\u2019s President Gabriel Boric, opens the SDG 4 Stocktaking event and names C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire as the most promising example of innovative education financing. The Jacobs Foundation is proud to have initiated this success story in West Africa with its programs TRECC and CLEF.<\/span> <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n
